Police Inspector Tawashi

• He was a regular character in the "Astro Boy" series who was unique for the puzzling scrubbing brush ("tawashi" in Japanese) like growth under his nose. Like Police Inspector Geta, he put his heart and soul into the role of detective and was highly proficient in this capacity, but it was the depth of his suspicions that marked him as a character as opposed to his honesty. He even regarded Atom with a critical eye, remarking, "You can't trust robots". This skepticism lent itself to his life as an actor, and his self-searching regarding his perpetual casting as a detective, which led to his occasionally turning his hand to pilot roles, was very endearing.
