After the great Rock Homes was knocked out of the running in the first episode of "Saboten-kun", it was Saboten Sam who was singled out without warning to substitute in the leading role. Hollywood also offers a similar take on the drama of lead role switching in the movie "Back to the Future". The actor Eric Stoltz, who has portrayed numerous complex characters, was relieved of his role in this film by the newcomer Michael J. Fox in what was to be his first starring role. The reason for the switch was the same; the judgment of the author being that, "This production needs something more pithy and brighter". Like Michael J. Fox, the actor Saboten Sam has used his slightly goofy looks while turning in the seemingly effortless slapstick performances of a seasoned comedian in numerous productions.
